1st Round Mock Draft.
Once again, it is time for my crazy mock draft projections. This year should provide more drama for the football fan as teams will be looking to make moves to help solidify their rosters.
1. Atlanta (from Houston): Jadeveon Clowney DE. The Falcons have the picks and are willing to take the risk of moving up to fix their defense. If the Texans stay at #1, I believe that they will take Mack over Clowney which will make St. Louis’s phones start ringing, but I believe by 8PM tonight the Falcons will have this pick from the Texans.
2. St. Louis: Greg Robinson OT. The Rams will use this first pick on the monster tackle from Auburn.
3. Jacksonville: Khalil Mack OLB. The Jags could use this pick on WR Sammy Watkins, but I don’t believe they will pass up on a Pro Bowl caliber OLB who will eventually move to the inside.
4. Cleveland: Sammy Watkins WR. The Browns will be drooling over the thought of lining up Watkins with Josh Gordon and won’t hesitate on taking Watkins.
5. Oakland: Jake Matthews OT. The Raiders won’t pass on the talented left tackle and help shore up their O-line. This is a safe pick for Oakland as Matthews’s bloodlines make him a great pick because he will be ready to come in and work from day 1.
6. Houston (from Atlanta): Blake Bortles QB. The Texans really want a QB, but wouldn’t be justified taking one with the first overall pick, so they move down and get the QB they want and some extra picks from the Falcons in the process.
7. Tampa Bay: Johnny Manziel QB. The Bucs won’t pass on taking in the exciting if not risky QB.
8. Minnesota: Aaron Donald DT. The Vikings having missed out on their QB will take the best DT on the board and help their pass rush.
9. Buffalo: Mike Evans WR. This could be a trade here, but if Buffalo stays put they will add a big target for their young quarterback.
10. Detroit: Darqueze Dennard CB. The Lions could move up for Watkins, but in the end I believe that they will stay put and grab the most game ready corner in the draft.
11. Tennessee: Justin Gilbert CB. The Titans will go corner here after the top 2 QB’s are off the board. Gilbert is a playmaking corner who could step in to the spot left by Verner.
12. New York Giants. Taylor Lewan OT. The Giants need help on the O-line and Lewan will be an immediate starter.
13. St. Louis. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix S. The Rams will use this pick to fix the back end of their defense and should get an immediate impact player.
14. Chicago: Calvin Pryor S. If Donald would somehow fall, they would take him, but they will go for help on the back end of their defense.
15. Pittsburgh: Zach Martin OT. The Steelers have been looking for years to shore up their O-Line and will not pass on Martin who has the capability of playing every spot on the offensive line.
16. Dallas: Anthony Barr OLB/DE. The Cowboys land their potential replacement for DeMarcus Ware and have the potential for a multi-year Pro-Bowler.
17. San Fran (from Baltimore): Odell Beckham WR. The Niners have picks to make this move and want more playmakers on offense. They won’t hesitate on the trade with Beckham still on the board and knowing he wouldn’t be there after the next pick.
18. New York Jets: Marqise Lee WR. The Jets want to provide some weapons for either Vick or Geno. Lee will help one of the worst receiving corps in the league.
19. Miami: Morgan Moses OT. The Dolphins need help on the O-line and will take Moses here who may start off as a guard, but will eventually make his way to tackle.
20. Cleveland (from Arizona): Derek Carr QB. The Browns know that there will be action here for a team looking for a QB and will use some of their picks here to move up and get Carr. They need to leave this draft with one of the top QB’s and will pull the trigger on the trade and get the QB they really want.
21. Green Bay: C.J. Mosley ILB. The Packers will help their interior of their defense here with Mosley.
22. Philadelphia: Kyle Fuller CB. The Eagles may pass on Fuller and go for a WR, but the Eagles if they want to be a legitimate contender they need to shore up their pathetic pass defense.
23. Kansas City: Teddy Bridgewater QB. Here is my wild-card pick. The Chiefs may have a contract problem with Alex Smith and get insurance with Bridgewater who fits Andy Reid’s offense perfectly.
24. Cincinnati: Stephon Tuitt DE. The Bengals will look for a replacement for Johnson and will land a solid player who could help out immediately.
25. San Diego: Louis Nix DT. The Chargers need help on the interior defensive line and Nix will provide a good anchor for their defense.
26. Arizona (from Cleveland): Dee Ford DE/OLB. The Cards need to look for someone to fill Abraham’s shoes and Ford will get a good mentor for a year before he is ready to be a full-time starter.
27. New Orleans: Brandin Cooks WR. The Saints could go for Ryan Shazier here for the defense, but I think they will be shocked to have the playmaker in Cooks still on the board as they will always continue to give Brees weapons.
28. Carolina: Jordan Matthews WR. The Panthers need WR’s and Matthews has the potential to be a very good one for many years.
29. New England: Ra’Shade Hageman DT. If the Pats don’t trade out of the first round, then they will take the big DT to groom under Vince Wilfork.
30. Baltimore (from S.F.) Eric Ebron TE. Ebron will take a fall in this draft if he doesn’t go to Buffalo at #9, but the Ravens will be ecstatic to get him at this pick after acquiring more picks earlier from the Niners.
31. Denver: Joel Bitonio OG/OT. The Broncos don’t have many holes to fill, but guard is one of them with Beadles leaving. Bitonio will start at guard and could move to tackle later in his career.
32. Seattle: Kelvin Benjamin WR. The champs may trade out, but if not they will take a chance on the big target that they are lacking in their offense.
Well, here’s another crazy design on the potential madness that is the 1st round of the NFL draft. Maybe I will get one or two right this year.
