The Fear is Creeping In.

As most of you know last night was the 1st of the three Presidential debates. As a general consensus, round 1 went to the Republican candidate Massachuttes Governor Mitt Romney. He was alive and animated like a teenager on Ridalin, while President Obama was kind of passified. After last night's performance, new polls have Romney cutting into Obama's polling lead. Romney in one night cut the poll 1.8 percent, meaning that all undecided votes are now a major player in the future of this country.

It's safe to assume that Paul Ryan will win in the Vice Presidential debate over current Vice President Joe Biden. Biden is not the most eloquent of public speakers and has a tendency to put his foot in the mouth of the Democratic party. So, if Ryan helps out in the V.P. debate, then one has to assume the election is going to be a lot closer than anticipated. Preisdent Obama if he wants to retain his job is going to have to show the fire that he had in 2008, when he took the fight to the American people. Last night is hopefully an aberration for Obama and all those who would rather see him in the White House.

I, for one, after hearing the debate would vote for Romney based on that performance, if and only if he would actually go through with the things he said. That's the problem with Romney is that he has moments where he speaks what actually needs to be done for the economy, but you look at his record and it's opposite. His actions don't equal his words. It's funny that in 2004 the Republicans completely bashed Democratic Presidential hopeful John Kerry for what they called flip-flopping on the issues. Last night, we witnessed a masterful flip-flop performance. Romney went from someone who came in with a perception of being arrogant and being out of touch with the people into a candidate who seemed more in touch with the American people than his opponent was. If this was the real Romney, then maybe he would be the better candidate, but I still want to see more of that Romney, before I believe that he could be what this country needs, but againn will his words for once be on target with his actions.

Not that President Obama has done all that he has said, but to be fair, no President has ever done all that they wanted. They do not have absolute power. They have to work with committees whose agendas may vary from what the person who holds the office of President wants to accomplish. The power that the person who holds the office of President is one of direction. He (hopefully one day we can say she) has to be able to listen to both sides of the argument and be able to integrate the best parts of the argument, that's how you create a plan that serves the greater good. The problem with the politicos right now is that they aren't listening to each other and there is too much arguing and not enough listening. Republicans and Democrats are more concerned with shutting down the opponents ideas before they even hear what is being put forth and that is not in the greater good of the American people.

People have critizied President Obama last night for what appeared to be looking down while Governor Romney was speaking, but looking at it from different camera angles you can clearly see the President taking notes on Romney's arguments. What's wrong with that? The man wants to make sure he knows what he's arguing that's intelligent. Which may be President Obama's problem, he's intelligent. Not that Governor Romney isn't, but President Obama has always been perceived as highly cerebral. The whole debate President Obama was talking in factual terms, citing studies and what he has accomplished, and that kind of talk may have gone over the average American's head. Romney was able to steal the debate by being animated and lively and shooting off veiled promises, something the President doesn't have the luxury of doing.

We can't say that we are better off than we are 4 years ago. The facts don't support that. Could it have been worse, you bet. The fall of the American economy falls on all of Washington and not just the President. There are so many loopholes in tax codes that prevent people from all walks of life from paying taxes. And contrary to what Governor Romney said last night, there are indeed tax breaks for corporations that send their factories overseas. It is a standard cost deduction written into the tax codes, that companies can get this deduction for moving jobs, it doesn't have to be overseas it can even be in this country, but most common practice is outsourcing. Governor Romney knows all about outsourcing. What do you think he helped  create with Bain Capital. He helped push for the global economy and knew that saving costs overseas would help businesses make more money then by keeping jobs here, which would drive the bottom line price up. The major problem with outsourcing is that it does create unemployment. It's not a bad thing to do it on a small scale to help keep costs on our products down, I understand that and it is an acceptible evil, but who are we kidding companies have no regulations on the amount of jobs they can outsource, so if they can close whole factories they will. That is what kills the American economy. We are a consumer based society and right now there aren't enough viable consumers, which builds debt. People are scared to invest in themselves as small business growth is miniscule, because they know the risk that they may end up in a huge debt if their business goes under and they know the government is going to bail out a small business like they did for GM.

We are spending too much in the government and it all areas need cuts. Public welfare, military, Obamacare, Medicaid and many, many more areas of our budget that do need to take some hits. It's a need. We have to cut spending while finding a way to grow the economy. Record unemployment in this country falls on the last 12 years. Bush allowed the mass exodus to begin and Obama didn't put his foot down to stop it. He talks all the time about getting rid of the breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas and wanting to reward companies that create or bring jobs back to this country. I've been critical of Romney for his words not equaling actions and this is indeed the case here with President Obama. You are the President, if you want something to change you do have the power to innitiate new policy. That would be a policy change that most citizens would love to see implemented and with the voting being a matter of public record, the citizens of this country could see which party truly favors the outsourcing of jobs, if your policy would have been voted down.

The number one solution to all of the economic problems is getting a grip on the defecit. If you can get back into the black, then the value of a person's dollar will go further and may even drive the market price of products down. What's really a problem is that capitialism has gone extreme. There is almost a sense of disconnect between what the producers charge and what the consumers can afford. Case in point, when you go to the store and you see an item on sale for 50% off, you feel like you are getting a bargain, but don't think for a second that the seller isn't still making a profit. Not that making a profit is bad, but if you can make a profit on an item that you are selling at 50% off to get rid of, why can't the original price be lower, then you would make more money because you may not have to put it on sale in the first place. You may have moved your inventory at a price that let's say was 75% of the original. It's a win-win. The seller still makes a high profit and the consumer doesn't feel ripped off and may visit your store more often. It seems that we have forgotten good business policies. We are such an immediate gratification society that we have lost patience. Businesses are more concerned with the immediate quarter instead of looking at what's good for the whole. Sometimes you may take a loss one quarter in order to gain businesses for the longer haul. How did Japan pull out of the mess WW2 to become an economic power. They thought of building customer relations for decades, not the present. They knew it was a long process, but they dug in for the long haul and succeeded, whereas we forgot about that and are so concerned with making maxium profit in the present that the future gets overlooked and that leads to businesses failing. When the #1 priority in a consumer based market is maxium profit instead of customer satisfaction, your business loses customers and that doesn't sow up on quarterly reports, that shows up on yearly reports.

I get off the topic. I do have a fear that Governor Romney may actually win this election. I fear that he will side with his corporate friends over the American people. His track record when he was a businessman was on pace with the problems that we face now. He pushed the outsourcing of jobs and opening up the global economy, so that he and his friends could make more money and not concerned at all about the average citizen. He claims that the amount of people on food stamps have gone up, but that is what happens whne you take people's jobs away and there are none to replace the ones taken away. People have to go on assistance to survive, some don't want to be, but it's either that or starve to death. Your corporate friends, Mr. Romney, have driven the market prices up so high that the middle class cant afford everything they could 15 years ago. The middle class is turning into poverty quickly and do you really care about that Mr. Romney or are you just pandering for votes, because you now feel the desperation that you may lose in your attempt to gain control of the White House. I fear that even though your words Wednesday night were different form your actions, if you, Mr. Romney, get into office you will return to being the Mitt Romney who cares about the rich and not "the 47% of people who are victims".
